It's Raining Zebras

While the diagnosis of Hypermobile type Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) is on the rise with spreading awareness, it remains largely unrecognized by healthcare providers. Because they tend toward injuries and chronic pain, individuals with hEDS are disproportionately likely to seek care, including acupuncture, and odds are good that you’ve already treated one or more patients with hEDS without realizing it. Now you can learn to better recognize and treat them. Rather than presenting blanket treatment protocols, this handbook seeks to aid East Asian Medicine practitioners in recognizing potentially undiagnosed individuals, assisting in their diagnosis, understanding how hEDS relates to Five Element Theory, and making referrals to appropriate specialists. By its end you should be able to craft treatments, using the abundant knowledge and skills you already possess, that are safe, effective, and tailored to the unique presentation of your particular patient—to the unique stripes of that particular zebra.
